SJCam SJ4000 WiFi Problem fixed

For all those, who are just thinking of buying a good action or sports camera but are skeptical about a high priced GoPro, SJCam fits into the budget pretty well. Especially, the SJ4000 which has helped out a lot of poor fellows like me. But, then I am pretty sure, many of you have faced problems connecting your SJ4000 over WiFi. There has been a time when you just accepted the fact that the SJ4000 is just an action cam without wifi, although you brought the one with WiFi facility.

The solution is actually pretty simple.

Once you have connected your phone to the SJ Wifi Access Point, turn off your mobile data.

Tadaaa!! Its that simple.

Reason: The SJCam HD app searches for the camera hardware over the primary data interface. Mobile Data being the primary Internet connectivity source, the app fails to connect to the camera over that channel. So, switching off all data channels except the WiFi makes it work. :)

This SJCam is now available here, for dirt cheap at Banggood. (takes around 30-40 days for delivery since products are shipped to India from China)

UPDATE: Please verify first if your SJCAM 4000 is genuine. You can verify it from here - http://sjcamhd.com/safe/

  3. Hi there ... have you or do you know of a way that allows 2 or more wifi devices (phones or tablets) to connect to the SJ4000? ... would be handy for multiple user to be able to logon and see the same footage ...

    cheers,
    Gem

    1. Well, as far as I know, there is no direct way of doing so.

But, if you must, One way is connect your SJ over WiFi to any device and share its screen via screen sharing apps over the internet. Now, obviously there will be lags and delays.

But, I must ask, why do you want an SJ wifi to be accessible by 2 devices? What are you planning?

    1. Weird!! I haven't heard of such an issue before. If you are able to connect to the camera, the pics n vids should be downloaded without any issue.
However, I suggest you to try the FinalCam or FNCam app from the Play Store.
Do let me know the results if you succeed with the 2 apps.

  7. Have wifi sj4000 - when I record the viewer goes to black after 30 secs. If I press ok button it comes back on and is still recording. This can't be right, can it? I first tried it out 2 weeks ago and it didn't go out to black. Is this something to do with installing wifi software, which works fine actually on samsung J32016 - also new. Can anyone help please? If I want to record for 3 minutes I want to check out line of what I'm recording if I'm moving down road or fishing etc. Many thanks.

    1. There is a setting in SJCam where in you set the screen to go off exactly after 30 secs/1 min and so on.

I am pretty sure, that you have set that up sometime ago and forgotten about it. Happened to me once initially as well.

This is actually a pretty nifty feature that helps you save battery and the wide angle lens pretty much ensures your subject stays in frame.

Please, Do let me know if this helped you.

  20. If you have multiple computers in your home or office and do not have a network to connect them all together, you can easily use a wireless network router to connect them together effectively. The components of the WiFi router include a router and port. wifi router
